Most general dentists refer third molar cases they could confidently treat in-chair — at a real cost to their patients and their practice. ARIA's Surgical Extraction Program changes that.

Delivered in Melbourne by experienced dental surgeons, this hands-on course teaches you to safely extract third molars, perform atraumatic extractions before implant placement, and manage surgical complications with confidence. You'll finish with 40+ CPD hours, a certificate in third molar extraction, and — critically — real surgical experience on live patients under specialist supervision.

General dentists from across Australia, including Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth, travel to Melbourne to complete this program.

  • Designed for general dentists at any extraction experience level

  • Blended learning: online theory modules + face-to-face clinical training in Melbourne

  • Hands-on pig jaw workshops before you go near a patient

  • Live surgery: extract up to 4 teeth on your own patient under specialist supervision

  • Small cohort sizes — maximum one-on-one time with instructors

  • Certificate in Third Molar Extraction from the Australasian Restorative and Implant Academy (ARIA)

  • 40+ CPD hours towards your annual AHPRA requirements

Who is this course for?

This surgical extraction course is designed for registered general dentists in Australia who want to confidently perform third molar extractions and surgical extractions in their own practice — without referring every complex case.

It's particularly suited to:

  • General dentists who graduated without sufficient surgical training

  • Dentists who currently refer all wisdom tooth cases and want to bring that work in-house

  • Dentists preparing to add dental implant services, where atraumatic extraction is essential

  • Recent graduates wanting to build surgical confidence early in their career

  • Experienced GPs looking to formalise their extraction skills with a recognised certificate
